The Copper Roofs Of Quebec

John Santoro Photography

Winter is long and cold along the Saint Lawrence River. Temperatures fluctuate between cold and deep freeze and the snow just keeps coming. As snow builds up on roofs, heat from the interior rises through the roof and melts a thin layer of ice which builds to critical mass and crashes on anyone standing below. Copper roofing with ice stoppers near the eaves works to prevent such disasters. These roofs are works of art.
