Zabriskie Terrain

The famous Zabriskie point is the must-see geologic formation in Death Valley National Park. Sometimes overlooked are the remarkable dune-like ripples of rock that surround the point. They are composed of sediments from Furnace Creek Lake, which dried up 5 million years ago—long before Death Valley came into existence.

I just returned from Death Valley where I had to brave a few wicked sand storms. Thankfully me and my equipment are fully functional. More images from Death Valley follow this week.
