Here you see the Panamint Mountains which border the west side of Death Valley as viewed from Artist's Drive on the east side.
At the foot of the mountains is the intense salt flat known as Badwater Basin. The snow adorning the mountain peaks appear to be the only fresh water in sight. Below you see the basin floor.
